Falcon 4.0 on GOG or Steam? Does any of the versions available work better?

Hi! I'm a new player and want to know if the Falcon BMS mod has quirks or something special that changes between Steam and GOG versions of the game. I know some games do, and I don't mind choosing one platform over the other if it's going to make the mod work better or with less hassle.
The guide says I can use both versions, but in your experience, has there been any difference?
