Fairphone 3: best OS in 2024?

So I'm looking for your recommendations for what OS to use on the FP3. Currently I'm on the latest LineageOS but it's getting kinda slow and I suspect the RAM is the bottleneck since apps get killed as soon as they are in the background.
What OS are you running and how is switching apps?
Any recommendations for lightweight ROMs?
Or is it just the age of my install and a complete wipe and fresh install might improve it?
