Apparently healthcare workers don’t serve our country.

My fiancé was a combat medic and nurse in the Army. Does that mean they cancel each other out? I’ll just make sure to tell him he’s a hero and follow it up with a quick “just kidding!” /s

My wife is a paramedic and nurse. She is my hero and has done more for this country than most I know in her twenty plus years in healthcare.

When the pandemic hit, my wife did her literal best every day under extreme stress from literally so many people dying. She would come home exhausted. The protective measures taken from Covid under the guidelines would give her rashes and the masks left bruising on her face. Her body was sore, and I did all I could to help support her with whatever I could do, even if it was only saying I was so proud of her.

Knowing that in so many protocols, healthcare workers were limited on what they could do for a long time on what measures they could take to save people. This was unlike anything most providers ever experienced. Sometimes, all she could do was hold their hands and cry later, wishing more could be done.

Her sacrifices and feelings matter. Because of her, I am better able to get help and express myself from my service as well.
