Why is my contact's active status different between my phone, tablet, and laptop?

Hi just curious why my contact appears online on my phone, but offline on my ipad and laptop.
Usually shows online on my phone or has a last seen time.
But on my tablet/laptop I can only see if online or not, no last seen time - which is weird because other contacts status are same across my devices. Anyone have a similar experience? Thank you
