Friend suggestions in the same city or surrounding cities?

When I first created my Facebook account I saw random people, and then I went on vacation and added some family members and started getting suggestions of people in that area. Now, I am back home and still get suggestions of people, mind you they are not even friends of my friends on FB, from the place I went on vacation. How do I get the friend suggestions to change to people in my city? It doesn’t matter to me whether they are friends of friends, but as long as they are in my area you know? Thanks!
