Can I wear eyeshadow/liner for an event with extensions?

I rarely ever wear makeup, but I have a gala right before I leave for vacation so I’m going to have my extensions at that point (took a break for a while but want them for the trip) but I would still like to do a nice liner/shadow look. I know it’s not ideal but is it okay to do once in a while? If so what is the safest way to remove the makeup afterwards without damaging the extensions?
