ELI5 How do inherited memories actually work?

Post Body
It seems like animals inherit memories from thier parents, maybe a fear of snakes or how to build stuff, or how to do a bee dance telling your bee friends where the good flowers are at? I kind of get how DNA becomes a brain, but then how does specific info get pre recorded and loaded inside of it? Can we change what memories are inherited, maybe inherit more useful ones or delete useless ones?
