ELI5:remote control memory
Post Body

So my non-techno savvy question is way simpler than how remotes work. How does the remote remember? If the batteries go dead for a bit, how does the remote remember the device it was programmed to control? If I set my cable remote to control my tv, it doesn't forget that TV even after it goes dead.
