ELI5: CO2 Bad, CO2 Enrichment for greenhouses good....

Post Body

LET ME BE VERY CLEAR, I'm down with 'save the planet' and like solar and windmills and drive a 100% electric car. (Mostly my motorcycle though)

There are laws all around the planet about our excess CO2 generation.

Carbon Capture is a major thing, it is such a big thing that huge projects are worked on so as to pull it out of the atmosphere..
https://www.eenews.net/articles/project-bison-fails-whats-next-for-the-carbon-removal-megaproject/
"....scrapped its plans to build a massive facility in Wyoming for filtering climate pollution from the atmosphere, leaving the fate of one of the worldโ€™s largest proposed carbon removal developments in limbo."

I just found out, there are systems called CO2 Enrichment Systems that exist to pump extra CO2 into greenhouses. Presumably this gets out of the greenhouses.... you can buy these on a scale appropriate for your home greenhouse.. or Marijuana grow hood- for rather little money.

Um, we all gave up hairspray and Freon formulations in the last decades because 'ozone hole bad'-

So, WTF? these seemingly incongruous elements both being a thing is confounding me.

edit: I missed explaining my focus it would seem.

humans having deep seated concern about the amount of co2 we add to our environment and simultaneously using/allowing/selling systems that would seem to be doing exactly that on purpose seems foolhardy.

the closest on point responses have been voiced with caveats like 'if it's responsibly produced it is carbon neutral' or that the volume is insignificant compared to other sources of co2, but- I'm good with the data i've been given.

2nd edit: I don't give a shit about CFC's for this- that was a simile.

very conversant with the science of it, have been since the 80's

DO NOT NEED TO HEAR ABOUT THEM AT ALL.. just wanted to hear why generating/using CO2 while simultaneously trying to keep it from cooking the planet made sense.

Comments

Inside the greenhouse is a controlled environment with custom temperature and custom irrigation. When it sits around the planet it makes an already chaotic system more chaotic.
