I have been reading and listening to various clergy and the one common thread is how the Russian Empire was super holy and the royal Russian family could do no wrong. It was everyone else but the royal family's fault as to why Russia fell they say. It was some kind of grand conspiracy to stop Christianity. These narratives don't add up considering I had family that was ethnic minorities in the Russian Empire, they absolutely hated anything Russian. I think a lot of this sentiment stems from the fact that many bishops who fled Russia during the civil war were a part of the aristocracy and could not comprehend losing power.
I am still Orthodox but I am sick and tired of this glorification of the Russian Empire by people who never lived a day inside of Russia or had family that were in the minority of Imperial Russian society.
