My experience in true/genuine orthodox thus far.
Post Body

I'm posting this here because I'm sure as shit not allowed to post this on r/orthodoxchristianity and I'm not here to change anyone's mind. I understand why people may leave orthodoxy but with that out of the way, i would like to start my post.

In 2019, in the mists of being treated like shit online for attending an EP parish, i came across true orthodox. They formed in the 1920s over disagreements with the direction of the church after WW1. The people are actually nice and i ended up joining them in 2020. There are a few nutters here and there but i just learned to tolerate them while holding my ground. I usually turn to my priest to rebuke said nutters as he is a very rational person and supports ideas such as evolution. He is from Australia, and was baptized in rocor in Australia.

The rocor of that era (which i will hence forth refer to as pre-2007 rocor) is very different from rocor under Moscow. Many rocor bishops outside of america opposed the union and did not go through with it. Instead they opted to continue as an independent synod. In fact, many pre-2007 rocor groups (which there are like 8) are considered "terrorist organizations" in Russia as they object to the MP.

Many in rocor objecte to the Moscow Patriarchate due to their ties with the Soviet government. This has been names as a heresy in True orthodoxy called Sergianism (named after Patriarchate Sergius who was appointed by Stalin in 1944 after cutting a deal with Stalin).

There are also Greek synods (of which i am under) who had help from rocor with ordaining bishops. (Though rocor under the MP will never admit to this and currently denies all such ties despite the fact there are photos of this happening). The Greek true orthodox synods are the exact opposite of GOARCh. Most of the bishops in north America that are under the Greek synod are converts. The Greek true orthodox synods are actually do a lot to evangelize (i swear I'm not from an alternative universe).

There is more unity among True orthodox synods than there is among the various Patriarchates. There is no real issue with overlapping jurisdictions. Another bonus is that true orthodox synods are not tied with the state so we don't face scrutiny for political scandals. On the topic of politics, (and this has been a thing in the church since the start but most patriarchates have ignored this) my synod forbids clergy from partaking in politics due to the nature of the priesthood. The reason behind that is they don't want clergy causing scandal due to siding with secular politics.

If anything, the fact all true orthodox synods are not associated with a state government puts us in the best position possible right now. Anyways this is just my experience in true orthodoxy.
