Heavens Generosity (long read)
Post Body

I am a practising muslim and I read this sub to pass the time whilst listening to Grateful Dead albums. I'm not like hardcore muslim, I just, I don't quite know I use Islam as a guidance - I guess you could call me a short-haired hippie with religion. I identify as bisexual and bigender but haven't told my parents that. I currently live in Dubai but the thing is, my Dad thinks the East is so great and better than the west, which it is in some respects, we moved here in 2015 from the UK and my dad lost his job in Ramadan 2016, since then he's been ever so religious and tries indoctrinating stuff I already know and accept (just not on his level) into me - it is actually really toxic and he's not the same man as he used to be, in fact I can say I no longer love him. I do miss home, the weather's nice here and stuff but I just wish I was a proper westerner y'know, like Pete Townshend or John Lennon.

As you can tell music means a whole lot to me, in fact Led Zeppelin stopped me from committing suicide which is why it hurts me so fucking much when my Dad claims that all music is "haraam" and "satanic" and my Mum claims that it's a form of intoxication. Thing is, I am a muslim but I believe being LGBT, not wearing hijab and listening to music is completely fine, just don't have anal sex (straight or not), it's makrooh (disliked) to not wear hijab but it's fine and music, so long as the message is good, is fine - I listen to rock and roll so usually there's nothing that promotes anything bad really; this rant about religion and rock and roll is for another time though.

I'm rambling. Anyways now you know some of my background you can tell I'm a normal person with western and Islamic ideologies. As I said at the beginning of this I read this sub to pass the time and to be honest, it's been quite interesting. This ramadan I've been reading the qur'an in English and have been since 2018 so I am somewhat educated about the verses and their meanings (because general interest and Islamic schooling). Anyways I just wanted to know, and I'm prepared to hear both sides, what is heavens generosity? - I'm asking, what's it all about. I duly believe Islam is a religion of peace and that it works in the 21st century, just the majority of people don't understand that.

I guess I'm asking what do you guys think about Islam, I don't mind having an educated debate in the comment section and I'm ready to hear both sides of the story. Don't worry I'm not one of those muslims who pride themselves in their own ego, I'm just curious because this sub has genuinely piqued my interest and has gotten me to learn more about my religion.

(I know this was a long read so thank you to anyone who's actually taken the time to read all of it lol)
