Missions are more predatory than the worst workplace

Post Body

I recently watched a clip of a missionary asking Susan Bednar's Husband a question about how to deal with discouragement or something like that, and Ofsusan goes off on a rant about how "the mission is not about you" and lists "my needs are not being met" as a COMPLAINT, saying that a true missionary would just "lose himself in the work" because then God would bless him. Wait, but he also says that saying God isn't blessing me is another complaint.

They always talk about how they love missionaries but in reality they do not give a FUCK about missionaries. It took them literal decades to let missionaries talk to their family more than twice a year.

People have basic needs that need to be met, both physical and emotional. Saying that "just forget your own needs and help others" is trying to pour out of an empty cup. You CANNOT expect 18-19 year old guys to just be able to set everything aside for two years, and then barely give him any support. It like offering a bandaid to someone who got their leg cut off and are bleeding out.
