Started the day with my husband and kids, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Got flowers, a Starbucks gift card, and scratch lotto tickets from my hubby, I mean, my kids.
Went to the most beautiful yoga class, felt such gratitude and peace.
Had lunch with my parents and a friend.
Then read my grad school reading assignment in the sunshine.
Finally, spent the evening at my TBM in-laws house celebrating with my TBM family. They are all so lovely and wonderful, and I truly had a wonderful time. They brought up church, just in the sense of, “this is what I did today,” and I finally felt as ease enough with myself to join in the conversation in a non-judgmental-honestly-just-interested-in-your-life sort of way. I am so grateful for them, and I am so grateful I am headed toward a place where I can appreciate and accept their participation in the LDS church without judgment or disdain.
It was a wonderful Mother’s Day, and I’m so glad I spent it the way I did instead of how I did for way too many years.
