I attended a tscc funeral this afternoon. The stories and memories were awesome, but as TBMs love to do, it was filled with scripture ramblings and perfectly timed tears.

The bishop got up for his remarks at the end and you could tell he was certain his words would uplift and edify everyone. He made some brief mentions of the deceased, and then dove into his inspirational tale.

He spoke of a recent event at his family's ranch where he took his daughter and her friend for a ride in his dad's truck. The road they traveled on was muddy from recent rain and the wheels began to lose traction as they went up hill. He turned the knob on the dash to 4 wheel drive and they continued up the hill still slipping and sliding. He then decided that rather than chance going further, they would turn around and go back to the house. He got the truck stuck while making the turn. Then he and the girls said a little prayer asking for help. They ended up having to walk back down the hill to the house to get help. When telling his dad about getting stuck, the dad asked ,"did you lock the hubs on the wheels? " No I did not. "Well there's your problem! "

So the bishop took another vehicle back up the hill to pull the truck out. He first tried locking the hubs and lo and behold! He was able to drive the truck out. Now comes the tears, and Tender mercies. He emotionally testified to the power of prayer and that Gob does answer prayers, even small ones like that.

So as my friend and I held back our laughter, I also questioned what exactly the prayer had to do with him getting un stuck. He's stuck, prays for help, nothing happens. Had to walk back to the house to get help. Gets told he's an idiot for not locking the hubs, returns to the truck, locks the hubs and drives out of the mud. .....

Did I miss something? I don't see Gobs help in any of that, but you know. ....Prayer works. And Gob answers and of course, Tender mercies....

EDIT: Forgot to mention that BKP, and Captain Taffy Puller were both quoted several times, as well as Ol Joe. It just made me chuckle to hear them referenced
