I've been struggling for the past 5 years since I left the church, to recreate a social network for myself. I've found I don't know how to make friends or create relationships, outside of the Mormon model of churchgoing. Whenever I get in a group setting, I feel awkward and "square," like I don't fit in. And ironically, when I talk to family about this, they see it as proof that I'm miserable because I'm sinning.
Does anyone experience this? I really feel lonely and am not sure how to create a strong network of friends outside of the church.
