POMO for about 5 years or so. Not sure why I'm just now getting rid of these skirts. They aren't my style at all.
My original congregation was pretty old fashioned even for JWs. Lots of older white folks. My last one, you saw all kinds of outfits and some of the folks were actually pretty stylish. A few of the sisters worked in clothing stores, so I think that was partly why. They always had fresh nails and braids etc. Matched their husbands ties.
It was interesting to me to see what was normal to wear in one area would be frowned on in another. Just goes to show the Bible has nothing to do with it. And Spanish vs black vs white culture played a huge part in what was deemed acceptable clothing.
I have some sensory issues, so I mostly wore skirts, tank tops, and cardigans. Very casual. I pretty much made myself a uniform so that I wouldn't have to think about what to wear.
A few of my things still work for my style and I don't have any negative emotions around wearing those items.
What did y'all do with your old clothes? Do you still wear any of them?
Also, I kept one other skirt because I need it for Halloween 🤣
