These photos are all bethelites, taken at bethel facilities.
When I was a kid, I was never allowed to have hand signs at all, if I did I would get counseled for it by the elders. I was told that bethel was very anti-‘thug’ culture (which to me, just meant anti-black, I.e. racist) and that you weren’t allowed to wear hoodies or listen to hip-hop or anything, which I thought was insane.
Now when I see photos from confirmed bethelites with their hoodies on, making all these hand gestures, I am very shocked.
Maybe it is an attempt to retain the youth?
