I was told my whole life that just because it says "church of Christ" on the front doesn't make it a true church. Okay, Mr Preacher, how do we tell the difference? Well, any church that doesn't practice baptism or uses instruments. This was the answer from the preacher at an institutional CoC. Go to a Non-Institutional CoC and you will be told a much stricter difference. In my experience, non-inst. and inst. don't interact very much with each other, and they believe they're not each going to hell, but the Baptist is. They have doctrinal differences but they want to set them aside, which is ironic coming from them. They're not a 'denomination', and it is not about the 'name' they say, but it is. If it wasn't about the name, the non-institutional people would believe the institutionals were going to hell.
