I had the most terrifying night terror in my life this morning. I've had night terrors on and off as a child and my parents would chalk it up to "demonic attack", and to say Jesus' name or read the Bible before I go to bed and pray and read when I wake up. They stopped for YEARS and have started up again (stress, I don't have a consistent sleep schedule due to shift work, I'm also a nightowl, and according to last night, I'm terrified of someone I live with) I scream so loud, that I wake up my roommate who lives in the basement room. Anywho, I just realized that the reason why I'm still having them, is because my parents treated it as something spiritual and not a treatable medical condition. Now that I've recognized it, I can tackle it head on, but had this been taken as a medical matter, I think I'd fare better.
Even with my depression and anxiety, my parents always say it is (could be) a spiritual attack but can never tell me how to exactly tell the difference between a spiritual attack and medical condition.
