What was everybody's "final straw" that made you choose to be free from religion?
Post Body

For me, it's a collective (I'm sure that's the case for most) but the biggest thing that I could absolutely never wrap my head around is the story of death and resurrection. We all know it. But what I didn't know until I was a little older was that that story had been used in middle eastern areas before the Bible and Jesus' time.

There are 6 Deitys who have pretty much the same exact story of death and resurrection and then revered as a God. Tammuz, Osiris, Dyonisis, Adonis, attis, and baal.

There's a bit more to them than just that, but the big point is that the biggest thing that Christianity holds dear that a man died for their sins. Well, guess what, a bunch of other people also did that in some stories too! Looks like Matt, Luke, and John all just copied their neighbors homework assignment.

And the small tiny second thing.

Joseph and Mary were horny teens and fucked, got pregnant, lied to everybody saying God impregnated her, and then just ran with it! Literally just a giant cover up so Joseph wouldn't be killed out of wedlock.

Maybe also the fear tactics. Fear of hell was burned into me long ago. Still worries me a little. What sadistic fucks do such horrible things.

Rant over. Please tell me your stories! I want to know!
