So I met this girl during some training for uni stuff as we do in our 20’s and the conversation of religion came up. During this conversation I let her know I am not longer a Christian for personal reasons. The obvious questions of why came up. I explained about how nothing actually changed. How people pray and pray and pray and nothing changes. I mentioned how privileged I and and genuinely how I wonder why god “blesses” me when I don’t need anymore blessing and he could give those blessings to the poor hungry dying children all around the world. OR how HE HAS THE POWER SUPPOSEDLY TO STOP RACISM or fatphobia or world hunger and famine. But no, he chooses to bless me more and give me what I want????? How does that make any sense.
Anyways, I told her these are the surface reasons why I stopped being a believer. I have personal reasons I am not comfortable sharing.
As you can expect, all her responses were the typical ones that any Christian says when they met a non believer.
Anyways, fast forward to today, she send me a flyer to a youth gathering at her church inviting me to her church??? Not to be annoying but I’ve taken this as a little passive aggressive. Because although she’s on the gentler side of Christian’s, she’s still sent me this flyer and invitation knowing I’m not a Christian? Also knowing I used to be a Christian so the invite isn’t as though I’ve never been to church?
Idk, I do feel a little disrespected but I’m not outraged don’t get me wrong. I just feel like there’s something to say about how Christian’s ignore peoples wishes and desires and they ignore your choices. Because if she wanted to hang out she might as well have said let grab some lunch or a coffee you know?
What do y’all think?
