Hi all. Trying to simplify my work. I am reconciling lottery sales. Column A, I have the readings from today's lottery. Column B, I have the readings from yesterday's lottery. So that's a simple 'sum' formula to find out what's sold. No big deal. But here's the kicker. When a new packet of tickets is opened, it goes back to zero. That makes the sum negative. I need a formula that accounts for column a being smaller than column b. A $1 ticket pack contains 300 tickets. So let's say Thursday there were 256 tickets. A new packet was opened. And Friday the ticket number is 34. So 78 tickets were sold. But excel would recognize it as -222. I need a way to tell it to subtract 256 from 300 and then add 34. I've been playing around with 'if' but I can't get it to work. I am a novice in this. Thanks for your help.
