I'm just a little new to the whole forecasting thing, hopefully someone here can guide me a little better. I have sales data for about the last five years, charted quarterly. It's actually monthly data, but the higher ups just care about the quarterly presentation. At the moment, I'm using just a basic Excel trendline to forecast the next few years into the future. I guess my question is if there's some kind of model I could be using to better forecast the potential sales, and if there is possibly one that would take into account promotional pricing (causes huge spikes), as well as seasonal sales?
