Just had the weirdest experience.

I've been listening to Bad Friday through my phone's built-in speaker and loving it. Song and production felt very breezy. Thought I could hear the bass relatively well.

Tonight I listened through headphones, and it's suddenly clear my brain actually filled in the missing bass from the phone speaker by itself.

Now the actual notes and progression of the bass I can hear through the headphones sound really wrong. The whole track suddenly feels far more dark, oppressive and stop-starty.

Anyone else had a similar experience (either with this song or any other song)? Feels like I'm losing my marbles here...
