I am currently a member of E-Uni, and I'm loving it, but at some point, I would like to give FW a try, simply to try out different aspects of the game. I know that if you join a particular faction, you can be attacked by NPCs in different areas of space. I was wondering if this is a permanent change of standings with a faction that can only be redeemed through ratting/missions, or if as soon as I would un-enlist from my faction's navy that things would go back to being normal?

I know that I could just create an alt and solve all of these problems (and that it makes plenty of economic sense to), but I don't see myself making Eve anything other than a casual game, and would like to stay with my one pilot.
