I think it’s a metaphor… like she’s struggling hard to open it while in withdrawal and when she gets to her first step in recovery (apologizing to Ali) she’s able to finally open it and reward herself—the first good feeling she had in days was him accepting her apology.

I read it as Gia is giving up on Rue and she’ll tell her about the important things in her life when she’s back to sober… but it’s likely not going to happen so Gia didn’t feel it was worth the effort.
Hopefully that’s not some foreshadowing of rue dying
