Hey everyone! I just rewatched the entire show for the first time since season 2's release and I have some questions regarding the concepts of each season.
I just want to preface by saying, this is not meant to be a request for comparison of the quality of both seasons.
Mainly, I'm just curious about the different routes taken and what those approaches mean, concept-wise. Season 1 is clearly focused on the euphoria aspect of the trials and tribulations of what the characters like Rue, Jules, Cassie, Kat, etc, are going through. It utilizes colour and vibrance, partying, uniquely colourful and somewhat otherworldly feelings to portray it's message, but what does Season 2 do?
Season 2 is still exceptional aesthetically but what connection does that have to the overall message and concept of the season? I can't decipher the concept of season 2. I can recognize the shift in aesthetics, camera-work and tone but I'm not sure I get why there was that shift and what it represents for the story?
I saw an interview where Barbie Ferreira says that Sam Levinson just wanted to emphasize that season 2 was like a new, crazier story, but, again, why? Is there a point? Is there even a specific concept for season 2 or was it simply just playing into the crazy aspect of the show in general? No hate meant at all, I know some people weren't pleased with Season 2 but I appreciate the work put into both seasons, which is why I'm so curious to hear what you guys took as the overall purpose and message/concept of the season.
Thanks!
