I am a US citizen going to work in Germany between May and August this year for a summer research internship at the Heidelberg Institute of Theoretical Studies. In order to receive the scholarship, I need a European bank account and provide an IBAN to the institution. This is because the scholarship will be deposited into the account. Please bear with my questions as this is new to me:

1. What's the best place to set up a European bank account?

2. Do I need to find my housing in Germany first before setting up the account.

   I tried setting up a Wise account today using my current US address, but Wise does not provide an IBAN (at least, I could not find it).
