Should I go bankrupt?

I'm playing as Granada and I'm going for The re-reconquista achievement. I was gifting France and hiring mercs to get the alliance, but while doing so I aquired an imense (for me) amount of debt which stood at arround 700 mark and arround 50 loans. I went bankrupt but immediately Tunis broke the alliance and Morroco had that warning flag on top.
