my vassal is westernizing. does this impact anything?

my north african vassal is westernizing. because of it they are not coring new provinces i added to them in a recent war.(they did have a claim on them).
this kinda sucks because they where going to be the next vassal i was gonna integrate.
so does it change anything for me to annex them while they are westernizing or not?
