"As a part of these changes, nations that Westernize will no longer get Western units, retaining their old technology group's units instead."
Post Body

So I never really heard about this until after I westernized in my most recent game and my units remained the same. Apparently they've reworked the pips for each tech group's units to be approximately equal throughout the game, but with each group's military units 'peaking' at different times. I was a bit disappointed, since to me this is one of the major reasons for even considering westernization as an Eastern tech group nation, but whatever.

I'm not totally sure about this part, but I read that the number of techs you must be behind to westernize has changed - it's now 7 techs multiplied by your tech group penalty, rounded down:

  • Eastern: 7*120% = 8.4 = 8 techs (basically unchanged)

  • Muslim: 7*140 = 9.8 = 9 techs

  • Chinese: 7*160 = 11.2 = 11 techs

  • African: 7*200 = 14 techs

  • Native American: 7*350 = 24.5 = 24 techs

This just seems ridiculous. I find it hard to understand why they would implement something like this, especially if you ever want to have a successful game as a Native American group. Has anyone besides me run into these problems without even realizing this was the case? If the changes in the westernization threshold are legitimate, I'm really surprised they would do something like that.
