Hey guys, as I continue to work on my main project (MotE EvW), I decided to stop working on my side-projects for the foreseeable future. These included a lot of small but well-polished EU3 mods like the Syrian Civil War mod, American Civil War mod, etc. almost all of them are not really functional enough to post as a releasable mod, except for one.
A couple of months ago I embarked on a journey to make a simple, no-bloat modern-day mod for EU3 using the existing map projection from Victoria Universalis. I didn't want to make it super-realistic per se, I just wanted it to be fun.
I got very addicted to this project and slaved over code for 1 month straight. The result of that is Europa Modernis: Turn of the Century. I ended up adding a HUUUUGE amount of province density since this was guaranteed to make the game more engaging. I then ended up creating a lot of complicated scripting to help guide the AI into making more "realistic" choices. Then I spent time modeling a very realistic rendition of failed states and perpetual rebel warlordism.
I coded all the way until I ran out of steam, which coincidentally lines up with the mod being just about polished enough to be released in beta. Since I'm not going to be working on it much in the foreseeable future, I believe that it will stay like this for a while.
If you're interested in the modern era, if you like advanced geopolitical maneuvering and if you enjoy some good old EU3 In Nomine, I very much recommend you give Europa Universalis: TotC a try!
