I have an idea, and Iād like to give it to this community for development as I am not capable of doing it alone.
The idea is to have a dancing banner: one constantly flowing and changing with the tides of ethtrader culture and sentiment, written by all of its users to reflect the current state of our ecosystem.
Imagine instead of the banner being owned through harbinger taxes by a single entity, it is owned by all of us Ć la r/place but with donuts used as the currency to buy a pixel.
We have thought of multiple scenarios:
- 1 donut = 1 pixel, trumpable at any time.
- X donuts = 1 pixel, with each pixel being an ERC721 and having its own harbinger tax that is a changing market rate.
I have discussed the idea in the following private subreddit with u/carlslarson and u/shouldbdan, which you may now visit and contribute to:

I want to give this idea to the community for development as I see it as an inevitable evolution of existing projects and ideas, and I would love to see it materialize. By giving this idea I know that it will take on a life of its own. I could see this idea being developed independently by multiple parties, and the most efficient use of resources prevailing. One scenario is that the donuts paid go to the community fund. Another is that some private party is able to better balance the rent of owning the banner (than the mods) versus the income of donuts paid to color a pixel. I personally would like to see the funds go back into the community fund as this would prevent value from being extracted from our community, but I realize that I have no control over the idea and an independent party may be willing to take the risk and do it better.
I do believe this idea could also be developed concurrently and integrate with the daonuts, and add another fun use case for our reputation experiment.
Please let me know if you have any criticisms of the idea. Iām willing to be wrong for the idea to prosper!
