Bids Due to GC earlier than hard bid date
Post Body

Hi, im an estimator for a GC and I tend to get some push back from subcontractors when I ask for their bid a couple days ahead of the hard bid due date. I ask for them early because I have to review the bids and make sure the entire scope of work is covered and a lot of the time I have to request a revision for something that wasn't included on the bid and that takes a bit depending on the subcontractor. Can anyone tell me why I get push back on this?

We do the same, I don’t get pushback but I’m flexible on them submitting late. Just gotta build some trust to know you’re not shopping their number. Some people are just clueless to our processes and just need a little transparency. I try to get most my bids in early but MEPs always usually trickle in late, most times their supplier holds their pricing until the final day from what I’ve seen.
