It's 8:30 PM on Friday, and I slink back in my chair at the dining room table, taking a glance down at a few morsels remaining on my plate. Chicken piccata: one of my favorites. A nice breeze rolls through the cracked windows, as the summer sun is only just starting to fall in the sky.

I let out a small tired sigh, the product of a full work week, and notice a palpable silence ringing in the house. I can't remember the last time it was this quiet and this calm. It's been some time since we've managed to pawn both of the kids off for overnights with friends or grandparents.

Rolling the sleeves of my button down to the forearm and leaning forward to finish, the sound of running water draw my attention to the kitchen where I find you starting the dishes. An admiring smirk spreads across my face. Seven years and two kids later and you still find ways to get me staring. Your white tank top, jean shorts and messy ponytail ensemble is no exception. Taken for a moment I realize how little it seems we've talked much less spent quality time together for two people who sleep in the same bed each night.

I get up and shuffle into the kitchen, scraping what little is left into the garbage before approaching from behind you. I curl my arm around you to lower my plate into the steaming sink, proceeding to pull you softly into me.

"Thanks for dinner," I whisper, kissing the back of your head gently. "It was delicious."

I realize this one won't do it for a lot of you, but here's hoping there is someone out there that enjoys realism as much as I do. In favor of a lot more far fetched scenarios I think we forget the sex lives of married couples, and some of them may have great ones! Here I'd love to play an attractive married couple who, due to life's many demands, have been too busy to enjoy each other in just a little while. So a summer night with an empty house and clear schedule presents an amazing opportunity. How we take advantage is up to us!

Now obviously as spouses we love one another, but that doesn't mean the more carnal side of us never rears its head.
