I’m a long time reader and occasional writer, but only for myself. I’ve never shared anything, and don’t really plan to, except in this instance where I would like to write something for my wife.
I made a start, but very quickly felt uncomfortable, and I think that it’s to do with the voice. I’m really not sure how I should be writing this. Every way I’ve tried just seems wrong, although admittedly I haven’t got further than a couple of paragraphs with each voice.
I am male, and I think that a lot of stories I have read are from a female perspective, however doing this just seems wrong for a couple of reasons:
Obviously, I am male, so no matter how hard I try, I will never be able to fully understand and experience first hand female feelings, so it just seems weird writing like that
This is for my wife, so I feel as though the previous comment is amplified further. I don’t want to appear as though I’m telling her how to feel
I have also tried writing as myself, but it just seems like it will end up being a laundry list of desired sexual experiences and fetishes, and honestly quite boring or off putting.
Finally, writing in the third person about the both of us just feels… weird. I don’t really know how else to describe that, but maybe it’s the best option?
Is there a general consensus when writing about yourself with the intention of giving/showing your work to the other person in the story? What would you all do?
Thanks!
