Royalties estimates that I've made roughly $7
Wow! I simultaneously feel super successful and like I didn't get anywhere. Ha :)
All right, data first:
Published 1st story Jan 25th Between 1/25-2/24 I published 1 bundle and 6 short stories.
3 were a continuing story which I bundled and sold. This was my best performing book.
1 story is set up to be a series- those books will be published this week and then bundled.
2 of the stories are another series. I feel like that story over all is done so I'm writing a different short in the same genre and going to put that out as a bundle as well.
All 6 shorts were under 5k all published on Kindle Pics- used depositphoto Covers- made in canva Kinks- fairly mainstream. How do I say without saying? Not tentacle aliens, not white hetero married sex.
HAPPY - I made money in my first month! I hit over 1000 page reads. There were a couple of people who actually bought some of the books! That that was all really exciting for me and I've been telling all my friends that I'm officially a writer because I'm getting paid. Honestly, I'm so excited that I've made some money because it shows me there's potential here. Also, kudos to me for working my ass off to pump out (obviously, pun intended) 6 shorts in my first month. I didn't know I was even capable of that. My covers are sexy and my titles make sense.
NEED TO IMPROVE - I didn't understand about backmatter till halfway through and then I went and added stuff to everything. In the beginning I wasn't aggressive enough with my keywords. I still think that's true. How do I figure out wtf to do with keywords?
KINKS - can j make money with the basics? I want to write m/m and m/f. I like bisexual boys. When I search m/m there's a lot of alpha. I didn't write any alpha. Should I do that because it seems popular? Or is the market flooded? My current kinks are mainstream. I could show these books to most of my friends and feel fine. They are sexy and have a few things but nothing I'm afraid to talk about. Do I need to be getting into kinks that are more deviant? If so, how do I find them!? Or can I continue with mainstream kinks?
The truth is, I don't know if this dataporn is good or bad because I have nothing to compare it too. Well... There's Dataporn on this sub that says in 30 days the author made $600. But that's my only comparison and that person has some "magic niche" that I haven't found. Lol.
Anyone out there making over $500 a month who wants to take a look at what I have so far and give give me real advice? I can pay you more than $7 :)
Is this good or bad data? Is this looking like I will be successful if I keep going?
