I'm curious if there is a consensus on how much backstory and setup there should be in an engaging erotic story. Is there a preference to diving right into the action or do readers enjoy the build and setup before hand?
I realized that the length of the story will definitely change this aspect. I have read through past posts and comments about how to keep the reader engaged between scenes. Some of my favorite stories seem to dedicate up to 10% of the beginning to the setup.
I'm not looking for a specific number just a general feeling of peoples preferences and what they have observed others enjoying.
