How "niche" does a niche need to be?

So I've been thinking about this for a little while, and wanted some advice.

Haven't formally published yet, but my tastes as far as my writing goes are pretty broad, so I made a plan for myself to write under a few pens as to keep myself from getting bored, but that made me realize... how specific should each of those pens be to their niche?

For example. If in writing... let's say I have a story published that features m/f bdsm on one pen name, and another has a scifi ero story on another. Pretty simple.

But what if I want to write, say an f/f bdsm story? The seemingly obvious thing would be to put it under the "bdsm-focused" pen, because making a whole new pen name seems a bit much for that.

And then what if I write bdsm into the scifi story, does that need its own thing?

I could just really use a simple explanation on how best to work with separate pen names and niches.

EDIT: I have never realized just how aggressively bisexual my writing is until today, and I can't believe it's this sub of all things that made me realize that.
