What do you do with cool ideas you don't want to write yourself?

Post Body

I seen to be on a "relatable posts" kick recently, so here we go.

So for a little context on me as a writer, I've been writing since before I could physically write (shout-out to my mom for being my scribe and writing down the bat-shit stories I came up with as a kid)

Eventually, in high school, I had a great English teacher who made me take writing more seriously, and got into writing erotica through roleplay forums since I was a horned-up teen, and it was a chance to practice writing while also dealing with being a horned-up teen.

Recently, I've been branching more into writing for myself and by myself, even releasing a few little stories here on reddit. It's been fun, but it has made me notice a phenomena that I've found for years now writing romance and erotica. Sometimes I have kick-ass ideas that I don't want to write myself.

Like, that must be pretty common, right? That you just think of something cool but for whatever reason, the mere thought of writing it yourself is just not doing it for you?

I don't know, sometimes it's inspired by something I see, or do, but I don't really know how I would do it, or don't really want to do it myself. But at the same time, I would still like to see it exist somewhere.

Some of these I just post somewhere and let someone else write it. Subs like dirty writing prompts are great for just putting ideas out, but it's spotty whether you'll get anyone actually writing the thing (and sometimes that sub feels like anything that isn't bimbofication or monstergirls gets forgotten immediately).

On the one hand, I think it would be cool to have a place for erotica authors to discuss works and share ideas. Like a weird, sexy writing group. But on the other hand, I could see issues of perceived plagiarism. If you put out an idea and someone finishes it, what if you come back to it later on and want to write it yourself now that inspiration has struck you. Do you need to ensure that your story is different enough from someone else's?

It feels like a weird point, because alot of these concepts I don't want to see go to waste. But at the same time, I'm not really sure what to donwith some of them.
