Has anyone participated in the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Service? What was the experience like?
Comments
I recently read a book that chronicles some former EIS members and the outbreaks they worked on. There's one chapter about an EIS epidemiologist who worked during the start of the HIV epidemic in L.A. in the early 80's. It's called "Beating Back the Devil: On the Front Lines with the Disease Detectives of the Epidemic Intelligence Service", by Maryn McKenna. Really interesting read. Check it out :)

Looks good! I'll check to see if my library has got it. Thanks :)
