I've been trying to find information about this all over the place, including searching the subreddit. But I haven't seen much about what epic provides for handicap accommodations if you need to travel.
I was approached by a recruiter online the pointed me towards a project manager role. The role requires quite a bit of traveling (which I am 100% willing to do). But traveling by a plane can pose some interesting challenges
For some context, I I'm an "active" wheelchair user, meaning that I am capable of getting around by myself and don't typically require that much help in my day-to-day affairs. I have traveled to 9 countries before, so I am relatively experienced with plane travel. But it was always with a chaperone.
I am worried about two things: 1. Will I be able to get from the airport to wherever epic would be sending me in a timely manner? Is it possible to call ahead for shuttle services or an Uber to do this? 2. What happens if a careless baggage handler breaks my chair during the flight process? Is there anyone I can talk to for backup plans if that ever happens?
Historically, My Flights have been infrequent enough that I have considered the possibility of my chair breaking as "worth the risk". And so far I've been lucky. But I worry about what happens when my chair breaks if there are actual work-related stakes in the game. So far, the worst thing that would happen would be that I would need to go home.
Are these concerns something that would prevent me from doing the project manager job?
