Need help improving my smoke spot and starting a garden

Hi hi!!! I have been living at this new spot but inherited a very dirty and dead backyard. Right now I’m leaving the leaves but I get really overwhelmed with the garbage to clean up.
I’ve been a container gardener in the past and I love herbs flowers, but I’m having a difficult time getting started because I’m overwhelmed.
The Spanish Lavender and Marigolds are the start of my garden.
I need help with ideas on how I can clean it effectively and get started :(
