I remember reading this and it struck me as odd but kind of accurate. For many years I thought about it from time to time. Why should it be this way? We are generally liked, smart, funny and successful.
It recently struck me after looking at some pathetic INTP post that we are not that attached to life because we are an alien type.
These are overgeneralized points but try to see where I’m going:
We’re not emotionally oriented enough to be totally understood and connected to the feelers. We are too logically oriented. Feelers navigate through life with a more romantic and emotional sense of wonder.
Our analytical side can result in a lack of emotional connection or attachment to people. We prioritize our intellectual pursuits and enjoy debating and discussing abstract concepts more than engaging in emotional or personal conversations.
We’re also not as outwardly cowardly, socially disconnected as our INTP cousins. But they are much more ok being an island. They don’t have the same social appreciation that we do. Also their discipline and more rigorous thinking and dedication to a single topic keeps them happy and occupied.
So INTPs do not feel the same social pressure or need for connection as ENTPs do.
Where does that leave us? It leaves us feeling fundamentally never understood by anyone other than perhaps other ENTPs and we are petty rare.
