It’d be one thing if they were under 18 but they’re both over 20 years old for crying out loud. I’ve also been getting annoyed with having to play third wheel every time he gotten into a new relationship for the past seven to eight years. Apparently, purity culture still applies to every new Pentecostal couple even if they are grown adults

Jokes aside, I really wish I could find an solid excuse on weekends to get out of stuff like this. Even with the job I’m interviewing for, I’d still have some weekends off so there’s a chance my parents would do this again. Outside of volunteering for local campaigns, which my dad (my pastor) is against because most of them are with a Democratic candidate, I can’t think of anything else to fall back on.

I have a small circle friends out of church but there’s no way my family would be cool with me hanging out with them because they’ll say that they’re going to be a “bad influence”. Until I save up enough to move out next year, I’m going to be in a constant struggle to put my foot down considering that I don’t have financial leverage on them

Edit: I didn’t expect this many people to engage. Thanks for all the advice that’s been given so far. This week I’m going to have another phone call with the job I’m interviewing for so I’m hoping that goes well. Other than that, I’m looking into a second income that I can do on my days off. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know so I can get started on it. If and when I get hired, I won’t start my first shift for about a month so it would give me some time to establish that second income
