Parents don’t support my career choice, so I have to pay rent, and it’s not cheap

Post Body

I want to do trade work; welding/plumbing. Blue collar work. I told my parents that I rather join an apprentice than continue in college. I was in college for computer science, but I highly dislike it.

My parents hate it. They said, they won’t support me, and they’re simply done supporting me. So now they want me to $1500 DOLLARS MONTHLY!!! Of the utility bill. Which I think is unfair, VERY. They want me to suffer because I said I want to do trade but they can’t support me for it. My mom is still pissed and now wants me to pay that much of a bill. She’ll never help me at all, and I have start my first 1500 dollar monthly payment next month by 6th of feb.

YES I know this is adulting, I already pay $500 monthly alongside with car bills and insurance. I am well aware. And I pay for my own schooling. But, I think it's ridiculous to double it because of my career choice they don't agree with.I live in Hawaii btw, born and raised. 19 YO.I already deal with their shit daily alright.

They took all my taxes, they take money out my bank account. I asked to split it, but I need a signature because I'm under 21 and they wouldn't sign it. So please, yeah I may seem entitled, but I'm tired of their shit. I will leave soon after I pick up another job to even afford a studio or 1br place in HI. Even sharing with roommates is $1700 a month here.

If I were you I would get a job. Take a semester or two to earn and save and then start an apprenticeship. I worked at a tourist restaurant on the coast and at least two of the young men I worked with started their apprenticeships while working. The money was stupid good, but you bust your ass for it.

Check out waiting tables. On the coast I could easily make a grand a week

Breaking a lease isn’t cheap.
