Looking for a little explination

I just got back to the game after a few months and the entire progress system changed. I just researched the Browning M1918A2 but to purchase, I need to go back and research the Browning M1918. I just want to know if I'll also have to go back to research the Vickers-Berthier as well as the Bren Mk1 or will I be able to later continue the research to the 1941 Johnson LMG?
