I recently bought a Honda GX160 petrol compressor. It’s been working absolutely fine until the other day, mid-job it cut out. I have spent days trying to figure out what the issue is.
A bit of background
The Compressor has sat idle for 2 years. Petrol was in the tank so I topped up with some fresh fuel and it was working fine.
I use it in a van
Now the revs died down, and the compressor cut out within a few seconds. I initially thought it was a fuel problem, as I had just topped it up with petrol.
I have done the following:
Cleaned the carburettor and jet pins inside with carb cleaner
Tested the spark plug for spark (it had spark)
Disconnected the oil sensors (there is sufficient oil in the engine)
Checked the exhaust and intake valves
Poured a bit of petrol down the throat of the carburettor. Engine did not start.
I am going crazy. I have no idea why this thing won’t start and I can’t take it to someone who can fix it as I work during the daytime. Any ideas on what the issue could be?
