This is the Canon LB-60 battery for the Canon IP100 and IP110 printers, a 2300mAh battery that costs close to $100. This price is complete bullshit; it's only about $15 worth of lithium. I'm looking at the 8 pin connector on the left side of the pic and wondering if I can hotwire a random 3000mAh battery to the printer. (How the hell can a battery connection have 8 pins?) I assume there's some kind of proprietary DRM battery verification bullshit going on with some of those pins, but I just want to be sure.

Does anyone have a Pixma iP100 or iP110 printer with this battery? Can you test the connections on the battery with a multimeter to see what's what? How can I hotwire an external battery pack that's not the LB-60 to this printer?
